🎄 Merry Christmas + My Gift to You: Simple Ways to Protect Your Portfolio in 2026

Hey Traders,

Earlier this year, I started my YouTube channel not knowing where it would lead. I never imagined it would grow so quickly and eventually turn into The Launchpad Discord Community. I’m truly thankful for every one of you—for watching the videos, reading these newsletters, and keeping me sharp with your thoughtful questions. I couldn’t do this without you.

With markets finishing the year strong, it’s worth staying disciplined. The S&P 500 recently hit a new all-time high of 6932.05 yesterday, while the VIX has fallen to around 13.47. Historically, this mix of high prices and low volatility increases the odds of a VIX spike and a drawdown in the months ahead. That doesn’t mean panic—but it does mean preparation.

So as a small Christmas gift, here are simple ways to protect your portfolio heading into 2026:

• Hold 10–20% cash – Cash reduces volatility and creates opportunity.
• Buy one cheap SPY/QQQ put – 30–60 days out, 5–10% OTM, rolled monthly.
• Use covered calls – Generate income and cushion pullbacks.
• Keep position sizes small – Risk 1–2% per trade.
• Set a drawdown rule – At ~6–8% down, reduce risk and reassess.
• Diversify time – Don’t stack all risk in one week or expiration.

You don’t hedge because you’re bearish.
You hedge because volatility is cheap and risk management keeps you in the game.

Thank you again for being part of this journey. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a strong start to 2026 🎄✨

Trade safe & smart,

Gautam

Markets Turn Fearful: SPX Slips, Oil Jumps, and Why 12% Cash Matters Now
The S&P 500 (SPX) closed at 6,878.88 on February 27, falling roughly 0.5%–0.8% for the week and about 0.9% for the month, capping a volatile February with a second straight down session. The weakness was driven in part by post-earnings selling in Nvidia, as investors questioned the durability of AI-related capital spending despite strong results. At the same time, hotter-than-expected wholesale...
SPX Rebounds 1.1%, Tariff Ruling, Big Earnings Ahead + Free Trade Idea
Hey Traders, U.S. stocks moved higher for the week ending 2/20, with the S&P 500 gaining roughly 1.1% to close near 6,909, snapping its prior losing streak. The rebound was largely fueled by strong Q4 earnings, with about 75% of companies beating on the bottom line, helping restore confidence after recent weakness. Markets also caught a boost after the Supreme Court of the United States struck ...
Big Week Ahead: SPX Support \Test, Fed Minutes, Inflation Data
Hey Traders, The stock market experienced a broad-based decline for the trading week ending February 13, 2026, driven largely by growing concerns around the disruptive impact and stretched valuations tied to the AI trade. The week started strong, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average reaching a historic milestone — but momentum faded quickly as heavy selling in technology stocks dragged the bro...
